The Ninth Jedi has now expanded into its own full series, continuing the events featured in the single episodes from the original Star Wars: Visions anthology series' first and third seasons. Featuring a major galaxy-wide conflict in this alternate take on the galaxy far, far away, The Ninth Jedi features several fun nods and parallels to the canonical Star Wars continuity.

Set in a distant, non-canonical era of the Star Wars timeline, Star Wars: Visions - The Ninth Jedi continues to follow young Lah Kara as she embraces her new role as a Jedi, working alongside other masterless Jedi and Margrave Juro to rebuild a New Jedi Order. Likewise, they're also seeking new allies to counter Lord Nawaam and his forces seeking to subjugate the entire galaxy. Additionally, Kara is determined to find her abducted father, the legendary sabersmith Lah Zhima.

Greatly expanding the mythology first established by the original Ninth Jedi chapters featured in Star Wars: Visions, the new anime series offers plenty of fun elements and reimagined concepts for longtime Star Wars fans to discover in every episode. Keeping that in mind, here are the biggest and best Easter eggs, references, and key Star Wars parallels from The Ninth Jedi's first season.

Days of Star Wars Past - Senate Building

In the opening narration that sets up the series, confirming that the Jedi and Sith were both wiped out long ago in this alternate version of the Star Wars galaxy, various shots of wars past are shown, including one that very much resembles the remains of the Galactic Senate Building on Coruscant in the primary canon.

Tracker (From Visions S3)

In the first episode of The Ninth Jedi, the large alien Jedi known as Homen remarks that Lord Nawaam's forces must have put a tracker on their ship during their last run-in. During The Ninth Jedi episode featured in Star Wars: Visions season 3, a tracker was indeed placed on their ship.

The Last Sith

Serving Lord Nawaam, Commander Gennoh Ikagi is revealed to be "The Last Sith", one of the sole survivors from the ancient order of classic dark side wielders who were nearly wiped out, the same as the Jedi in this alternate timeline.

Voice of Lah Kara - Kimiko Glenn

The voice of Lah Kara should sound very familiar to Marvel fans, as actress Kimiko Glenn is famously the voice of Peni Parker, both in Sony's animated Spider-Verse movies, and in the popular hero-shooter Marvel Rivals.

Gramps

The Jedi's gifted (and elderly) droid pilot is fittingly named "Gramps". This is the same tea-drinking droid featured in the debut Star Wars: Visions season 1 episode who helped Kara get to Hy Izlan's temple, voiced by J.P. Karliak (who also voices Morph for Marvel Studios' animated X-Men '97 series).

“I Have You Now”

Mirroring Darth Vader in A New Hope during the Death Star trench run, Commander Gennoh says the same line when he believes the Jedi are in his clutches.

Black Hole - Solo

Using a black hole to slow down and trap Gennoh's much larger command ship, Gramps' unique maneuver brings to mind Han Solo's similar move with The Millennium Falcon in 2018's Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Droid Army With A Central Command Unit

During the attack on Makoma Ko, it's revealed that Lord Nawaam's forces are primarily made up of large droid armies resembling a mix of classic Trade Federation battle droids and Imperial Darktroopers. Like Trade Federation battle droids, they also take their orders from a central command unit, rendering them all useless once taken out (just like in The Phantom Menace).

Unorthodox Lightspeed Jumps

Jumping out of the system and then immediately jumping back in to get closer to the enemy command ship undetected, the strategic lightspeed jumping from the Jedi (combined with the previous black hole maneuver) feels very evocative of similarly unorthodox tactics used in the sequel trilogy: jumping into Starkiller Base's atmosphere in The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi's Holdo Manuever, Rise of Skywalker's lightspeed skipping, etc.

New Destroyer Droids

Nawaam also has a type of battle droid that very much resembles a classic Droideka from the main Star Wars canon, including a much bigger version with its own deflector shield by the series' end.

Voice of Ethan - Masi Oka

Working undercover among Nawaam's organic forces, Ethan is shown gathering intel for Margrave Juro. Having first appeared in the original Star Wars: Visions episodes, Masi Oka returns in The Ninth Jedi to voice the young Jedi. Oka is best known for playing Hiro Nakamura in the NBC series Heroes.

A Beskar Spear?

Thanks to his open challenge that anyone who defeats him will gain control of his army, Lord Nawaam effortlessly bests a warrior wielding what very much looks and sounds like Din Djarin's Beskar spear from The Mandalorian series.

Classic Jedi Training (Droid & Blast Shield)

Shown training under Margrave Juro, Kara is shown wearing a helmet with a lowered blast shield while deflecting shots from a hovering training droid, one of the most classic exercises for young Jedi first seen with Luke Skywalker in A New Hope, multiple times in the prequels and Clone Wars, and most recently in Ahsoka with Sabine Wren.

“I Have A Bad Feeling About This”

Even if it's in an alternate continuity, it wouldn't be a Star Wars project without someone saying they have a bad feeling about something, in this case Lah Kara at the beginning of The Ninth Jedi's second episode.

Bibin

A world once friendly to an early attempt to rebuild the Jedi Order, Bibin very much resembles Yavin 4 from space, especially with the giant red gas giant behind it.

Kyber Crystal Canon

While it may not be called the Death Star or anything so dramatic, Lord Nawaam's "Kyber Cannon" promises similar yet far more devastating effects, using kyber crystals to decimate planets and carve paths of destruction across the entire galaxy with just a single blast.

“Who Would Have Thought?”

Hammering the Death Star comparisons even further, you can't help but smile when Gennoh says, "Who would have thought kyber crystals could be used this way?"

Voice Of Lah Zhima- Simu Liu

Having been Nawaam's prisoner following his abduction in the very first Visions episode, Kara's father Lah Zhima returns in the Last Jedi series, with Simu Liu reprising the role. Liu is best known for his roles in the MCU as Shang-Chi, Kim's Convenience, and as one of the many Kens in The Barbie Movie.

Asteroid Miners (Dwarves)

The closest we may ever get to an official Lord of the Rings/Star Wars crossover, Kwana and his fellow miners are clearly patterned after dwarves, living in asteroids converted into large starships.

Jedi & Politics

The Ninth Jedi reveals that Juro and Zhima's master became compromised the more he became involved in galactic politics despite his initial good intentions, mirroring the similar decline of the Jedi Order in the primary Star Wars canon once they became generals and commanders for the Republic, serving a governing body more than the galaxy itself and its people.

Rey Skywalker/Han Solo Blaster Combo

Multiple soldiers of Bibin are shown drawing blasters that look to be a combo of Han Solo's classic DL-44 blaster pistol and Rey Skywalker's NN-14.

A Failed New Jedi Order

Just like the first attempt to rebuild the Jedi Order in the canonical timeline with Luke Skywalker, the first attempt to rebuild the Jedi Order in this alternate continuity with Master Reno similarly fell apart.

A Silver Saber - Gray Jedi

Achieving a state beyond the light and dark, Lah Zhima (and others') lightsabers turning silver seems to be indicative of the classic "Gray Jedi" concept of those who sought to exist in balance with both aspects of the Force (something much easier said than done).

“Dank Farrik!”

Reacting to the sinister truth about Master Reno, who had secretly manipulated galactic commerce by abducting key leaders, Kwana gives the classic Star Wars expletive from the primary canon, most famous for its use in The Mandalorian.

“I Sense A Presence…”

Sensing the Jedi on board, Lord Nawaam's line mirrors Darth Vader's when he senses Obi-Wan Kenobi aboard the Death Star in A New Hope.

“Juro Wanted Me To Protect The Bridge, So That’s What I’m Going To Do”

Similarly young and reckless, Kara's line is a nod back to young Anakin Skywalker in The Phantom Menace, "Qui-Gon told me to stay in this cockpit, so that's what I'm gonna do."

Gennoh Ikagi’s Grievous Evolution

Receiving a brand-new cyborg body after his failure dueling Lah Zhima, Commander Gennoh is very much The Ninth Jedi counterpart to General Grievous, complete with extra limbs and surprise upgrades.

A Four-Legged Assault Walker

Shown fighting local resistance fighters on a nearby world, Lord Nawaam takes on a four-legged assault walker that very much resembles a classic AT-AT. However, it's much smaller for a single pilot, essentially the size of a Republic AT-RT.

“Fully Operational”

Believing his Kyber Cannon will be "fully operational" by the time of his return, it's fun to see all the same terms and vernacular for the Death Star being used here in The Ninth Jedi.

Zhima’s Varactyl

Zhima is briefly shown riding a large reptilian mount which looks very much like the varactyl Obi-Wan Kenobi rode on Utapau during Revenge of the Sith (named Boga).

“Rebel Scum”

Wanted notices are out across the galaxy for the remaining Jedi, referred to as "rebel scum" (another classic term heard in the main Star Wars galaxy).

Eht & Bee-Toh

The Jedi hunters Eht and Bee-Toh return in The Ninth Jedi to hunt down Lah Kara, having been first featured in Star Wars: Visions season 2 as the ones who abducted Zhima for Nawaam. After Kara defeats Eht, she spares Bee-Toh's life and enlists him into her service (she even gives him a lightsaber). Armed with his new saber and blaster, Bee-Toh is voiced by Aleks Le (who currently voices Daredevil in Marvel Rivals).

Saber Box - Galaxy’s Edge

Placing Lah Kara's lightsabers in a cargo box, the box itself bears a strong resemblance to the same standard boxes guests at Disneyland get when they purchase Legacy Lightsabers at Galaxy's Edge.

"Trust In The Force"

Not only is "Trust in the Force" a classic Jedi phrase, but it comes from the Force Ghost of Juro himself, confirming the existence of Jedi spirits after death in this alternate continuity.

"The Jedi Strike Back"

The Ninth Jedi episode 7 is titled "The Jedi Strike Back", a clear nod and riff on the original trilogy's The Empire Strikes Back.

Hy Izlan

The final battle takes place at Hy Izlan, the world once ruled by Margrave Juro and the temple housing the massive kyber crystal first seen in The Ninth Jedi's debut episode in Star Wars: Visions season 1.

Lah Zhima’s Lightsaber

Lah Zhima's personal lightsaber is returned to him by Kara, revealed to be the very same saber with golden accents first shown in Star Wars: Visions season 1.

The Nine Jedi Assembled

Finally, a true force of nine Jedi are assembled in the final episode of The Ninth Jedi: Lah Zhima, Lah Kara, Ethan, Homen, Kwana, Bee-Toh, Dunabi, Lady Tafflah. Juro serves as the ninth, his spirit still watching over the surviving Jedi (though he's also shown among their number by the season's end).

A Giant TIE Fighter Wing

The Kyber Cannon array and its new modifications make it look exactly like the wing of a giant TIE Fighter from the main Star Wars canon.

“We Have To Turn Around”

Sensing that her father is in danger while dueling Commander Gennoh in a deadly rematch, Kara demands that they turn the ship around, just like when Luke Skywalker reaches out to Leia at the end of The Empire Strikes Back, motivating his sister to turn The Millennium Falcon around to rescue him from beneath Cloud City.

When Lord Nawaam's Kyber Canon is forced to land on the surface of Hy Izlan, the line of Lah Zhima's impressive kyber crystal extractors, which could pull asteroids rich with kyber down from orbit, is briefly shown (having been first featured in the debut Star Wars: Visions episode).

A New Jedi Council (Knights of the Round Table)

The finale episode of The Ninth Jedi season 1 ends with Lah Kara, Juro's spirit, and the rest of the new Jedi igniting their lightsabers while wearing new white robes, confirming the dawn of a true New Jedi Order and evoking Arthurian legend with the Knights of the Round Table.
