Marvel's Spider-Man 2 players triumph as Brand New Day DLC gets fixed

Insomniac Games' Spidey-senses have been tingling as they tried to jump on the bandwagon and celebrate Tom Holland's return as Peter Parker by beefing up the best-selling first-party PlayStation game of all time.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 reared its head this summer as Spider-Man: Brand New Day rallied the web-shooters around the world to shatter Box Office records.

Three years after its original launch, the first DLC for Spider-Man 2 was launched to celebrate Brand New Day, adding a 'Fresh' new suit to mark the next chapter of his MCU journey.

However, the brand-new content (also featuring a bonus feature for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls fans) didn't hit the mark with fans, who called out the new suit as not being a true reflection of Holland's Brand New Day dress-up.

The typical red and blue onesie was criticised by fans on social media, and now the developers have loaded up the Stark Industries Fabricator to offer a new, free upgrade.

Insomniac Games wriggle out of sticky Brand New Day webs

Holland's Brand New Day outfit is one of the more down-to-earth Spider-Man costumes that we've seen, serving closer to the comic-book source material than the juicier Hollywood looks that Tony Stark offered.

But when added to Marvel's Spider-Man 2, fans claimed that the look was too cartoonish - despite it needing to be animated for the game, popular Reddit threads claimed 'the saturation and texture' was 'off'.

"Really disappointed tbh it looks quite bad. Washed out colors and plastic texture," one popular comment read.

However, the developers have admitted defeat, and with great power, they took responsibility.

"We deployed a new update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 that includes improvements to the Fresh Start suit based on player feedback," Insomniac said on X.

Already, players have claimed that it is 'much better' and a 'major improvement', especially now that the suit has active battle damage, which is one of the most popular aesthetic features in the game.

"That’s a night and day difference," one comment read.

Another added, "When I hopped on I literally gasped it’s so damn perfect!!!! Insomniac cooks again."

Still, some people complained about the shade of blue used, but you can't please everyone.

The update was rolled out on PlayStation and PC on August 7, ready for everyone to swing through the streets of New York in fine fashion.

Everyone, except Tom Holland, that is, who is still reliving another franchise of his during any Hollywood downtime.
