Marvel Cosmic Invasion Is Adding An Iconic Villain As DLC
Doctor Doom Is Coming To Marvel Cosmic Invasion As Part Of Its First Major Expansion
The first details of Marvel Cosmic Invasion's previously confirmed major expansion have been revealed and, surprise surprise, Doctor Doom is taking centre stage.
Back when Marvel Cosmic Invasion first released, it seemed perfectly set up to be expanded with DLC, just like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. We got a good glimpse of that potential a few months ago when The Thing and Cyclops were suddenly added to the game as part of a surprise character pack.
Those two were peak additions to an already fantastic roster, but arguably the more exciting part was the confirmation that Cosmic Invasion would be getting a bigger expansion later in the year. That's left everyone guessing what, or rather who, might come to the game further down the line, and we've finally got a part of that answer.
Doctor Doom Is One Of Three Characters Coming To Marvel Cosmic Invasion's Big DLC
The Siege Of Castle Doom Arrives Fall 2026
Today, Dotemu and Tribute Games have announced that Marvel Cosmic Invasion's teased expansion is titled The Siege of Castle Doom, and will suitably bring with it the egotistical ruler himself as a playable character. Although there's no gameplay for the DLC just yet, we do get a good glimpse of Doom in the key art above.
The DLC, which will launch later this year in the fall, will also bring two other playable characters to the table, as well as an "all-new game mode". Details on either of those haven't been shared just yet, but I'm hoping that the game mode is similar to the Dimension Shellshock DLC for Shredder's Revenge, which added a ton of replay value.
As for the characters, it's really anyone's guess as to who they could be, but Doom's inclusion makes me think that Mister Fantastic is a good bet. We could also get some more villains in the game, which would be a breath of fresh air since there's not too much evil representation in the game as it stands. I guess we'll find out as we get closer to fall 2026.
