Xbox Is Getting A Stacked Weekend Of Free Games

Xbox Is Making 5 Games Completely Free This Weekend For A Limited Time

Despite the future of the subscription service being somewhat on the rocks, Xbox has still been consistently delivering some incredibly worthwhile releases. While Xbox Game Pass has already been offering a rotating library of games for just about every gaming preference out there, simply having an Xbox account on its own is netting you some exciting free games this weekend.

As spotted shortly after the announcement by Gamerant, Xbox has announced the newest additions to the platform as part of the Free Play Days program on the official Xbox Wire blog. Offering several massive open-world games, a sneak peek at a new 2026 release, and several acclaimed indie titles even if you don't have a Game Pass subscription, this weekend is one you don't want to miss out on.

Free Play Days Bring Some Fantastic Free Offerings

Rather than adding more long-term games to the platform like the previous Game Pass announcement for August, you'll only have a limited time to download and play these free offerings, some of which are going away in as short as just a few days, so you'll need to act fast.

In terms of what you can actually expect to download during this time, Game Pass is starting light with the indie game Sports Renovations for membership owners to play until August 9, which is notably the only game in this lineup that requires a paid membership to access.

For bigger titles, both open-world Ubisoft games of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint are also being made free, this time for everyone regardless of their subscription from now until August 10.

While either of these games could easily fill the entire window thanks to their lengthy open worlds that can be experienced either solo or with a squad of friends in co-op, Xbox Game Pass is adding even more triple-A titles that require no subscription whatsoever to access.

A Tight Weekend Of Lengthy Games To Enjoy

As if the window of stacked releases wasn't enough with two massive Ubisoft games, sports fans can rejoice as the release of NBA 2K26 is being made free to try out from now until August 14, letting you experience everything the game has to offer without paying a single cent to try it for yourself.

Lastly, during the latest Free Play Days lineup, you'll be able to download and play a two-hour trial of the creative indie game Wax Heads, offering a sneak peek at the dialogue-heavy record-store management game. While it's a shame that we only have so little time to play these newest additions to the Xbox lineup, the latest Free Play Days are already shaping up to be a busy weekend for console owners and PC gamers alike.
