Nicolas Cage Set To Headline New Survival Thriller In A Fight Against Cannibals Plot Details Revealed
Nicolas Cage will fight cannibals in Parish.
Cage recently made a splash on the small screen with Spider-Noir for Prime Video, but most of his most celebrated work has been in the world of movies. Known for titles like Leaving Las Vegas (1995), Con Air (1997), and National Treasure (2004), Cage continues to make unpredictable choices as an actor, recently starring in Longlegs (2024), Dream Scenario (2023), and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022), and now he's set to take on the apocalypse with Parish.
Per Deadline, Parish will feature Cage as one of the last survivors three decades after a nuclear apocalypse who must face off against a horde of cannibals. Adam Sigal writes and directs the film, which is targeting an October filming start in Minnesota. More details about Cage's character and Parish's story are below:
"A hardened survivor who has managed to stay alive with his highly trained attack dogs by following one unbreakable rule: never let anyone through the gate. That rule has kept him alive for three decades. But when a desperate woman carrying an infant appears outside his sanctuary, Parish is forced to choose between compassion and survival. His decision exposes the refuge he has spent years building and puts him in the crosshairs of a vicious band of cannibals closing in from the wasteland. With his highly equipped compound under siege and his past finally catching up with him, Parish is forced into a brutal fight to protect everything he has left.”
David Tattersall, who served as cinematographer on the Star Wars prequels and Con Air (1997), will take on the same role for Parish. Joel Shapiro and Steven Tyler Sahlein will produce the film, while Concourse Media will executive produce and finance with Archetype Media Finance.
CEO of Concourse Media Matthew Shreder calls Parish "a sophisticated survival thriller that’s a cinematic event built for a global audience," stressing that the film has what it takes to be a "real theatrical event."
Shapiro of MagiCity Studios also shared a statement about the upcoming Cage movie, highlighting just how intense the viewing experience will be:
“Adam has created a world that is savage, cinematic and incredibly visceral, but what drew us to Parish was the humanity underneath it. Nick Cage brings an unpredictability and emotional intensity that makes him perfect for this character. And to be building this world alongside artists like David Tattersall is incredibly exciting. We’re approaching this as a big-screen experience from the ground up.”
