How to defeat Omega Red in Marvel's Wolverine boss battle explained

You'll fight many tough battles in Marvel's Wolverine, with Logan up against the odds in plenty of big fights. The Omega Red boss battle, though, might well have surprised you in its difficulty.
As the first major boss battle in the game, Omega Red is a tricky fight for Logan.
You can't just dive in and slice Omega Red up in the boss fight – this is a battle that requires brains and brawn.
Fortunately, the game does tell you as the boss battle begins that "Bosses can be Staggered. Their Stagger Meter is underneath their Health Bar." And underneath that helpful hint is one that's even more helpful: "Tap L1 Parry".
Parrying will come very much in handy.
With all that pre-amble out of the way, it's time to dig our claws into how to defeat Omega Red in Marvel's Wolverine!
How to defeat Omega Red in Marvel's Wolverine
To defeat Omega Red in Marvel's Wolverine, you need to focus on parrying his attacks to stagger him.
As the game lets you know, "Parrying attacks fills up the Stagger Meter. Filling up the meter will Stagger the boss, immobilising them for a Barrage."
The boss battle is split into two parts. In the first section, inside the hangar, he has a straightforward attack pattern.
- His standard attacks can be parried and his big attack, which will see a red glow appear, has to be dodged
- When he throws items at you, dodge them.
- When he puts up a shield with his tentacles, either wait for them to disappear or use the Knee Breaker skill to break through his defences.
- After you parry enough times or deal enough damage, Omega Red's Stagger meter will fill up. Use this chance to deal major damage to him.
- You'll have moments to deal damage after Omega Red's standard combo – just remember to get out of the way in time!
In the second section of the boss battle, Omega Red is angry. He'll do more attacks that you cannot parry. Dodge them.
Again, you'll have windows to attack after his combos leave him standing still for a short time.
Make the most of these moments, dodge his red attacks, and parry everything else. You'll get the hang of it and learn useful skills you can make use of in future boss battles too!
