FF14: Evercold release window, pre-orders and what to expect

Final Fantasy XIV is set for its sixth major expansion, with the Evercold release date creeping ever closer.

Announced at the April 2026 Fan Festival in Anaheim, California, it's the first expansion since the controversial Dawntrail launched in mid-2024.

It's a great time to be a Final Fantasy fan, with both FF7: Revelation and Final Fantasy Resonance to look forward to.

But when is Evercold coming around? Here's what you need to know about the expansion's release date, pre-orders and more.

When is the FF14: Evercold release date?

FF14's Evercold expansion is currently scheduled to release in January 2027.

This release window was confirmed as part of Naoki Yoshida's keynote speech at the opening of April 2026's Fan Festival.

With the Berlin Fan Fest coming up in July, we're hopeful that a concrete release date is about to be announced.

Can I pre-order FF14: Evercold?

Evercold is currently not available for pre-order.

In fact, the expansion doesn't yet have store pages on major storefronts like Steam.

Again, we're hopeful that this is about to change at Berlin Fan Fest in July, and we'll update this page as and when pre-orders go live.

What to expect from FF14: Evercold – everything announced so far

While there's plenty that we still don't know about Evercold, Square Enix has already confirmed lots about the upcoming expansion.

The highlight of what we know so far is that we're getting two new jobs: one tank and one physical ranged DPS.

Furthermore, there's a brand-new combat system dubbed 'Evolved Mode,' which places a greater emphasis on job identity.

Players will be able to choose between Evolved Mode and the current mode – Reborn Mode – for all existing jobs, while all new jobs starting with Evercold will only be available with Evolved Mode.

There will also be a big overhaul to the way players earn rewards each season to keep things fresh.

But beyond that, here's a quick list of everything that has already been confirmed for Evercold:

  • Level cap increase from 100 to 110
  • The Icebound Realm of the Fourth
  • New cities
  • Distinctive new areas
  • Arcane Colossi of Unknown Providence
  • New allies to encounter
  • New dungeons
  • New alliance raid, EVANGELION – Ghosts of Desire
  • A new raid series
  • A new Ultimate raid
  • FATEs, hunts and treasure hunts
  • New trials
  • PvP updates
