The Sins of a Solar Empire franchise is about to get its fourth faction, an addition that fans have been waiting for two decades. The Harbinger expansion from Stardock for Sins of a Solar Empire II now has a release date attached to it too, with it slated to land on September 3, 2026.

"The Vasari have been running for nearly 10,000 years from the 'great threat' that destroyed their empire," says Stardock. "For 35 years, they’ve warned anyone who would listen about it drawing near…. Now, they have arrived: the Eidolon."

Instead of fighting for planets, trade routes, or wealth, this new faction is focused on spreading corruption and striking its foes with cloaked fleets. The more that corruption spreads across planets and units, the more power and advantages that the Eidolons gain.

"The Eidolon don’t value typical assets like other races, but they do exploit them as a way to spread their corruption more effectively," adds Stardock. "They seek only to corrupt those they encounter, transforming them into something else to empower themselves."
