Harry Potter: Norbert’s Transport Officially Releases On July 29
Harry Potter fans are counting down the days until the release of the new HBO series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, which is officially set to premiere on Christmas Day 2026. With the series already renewed for Season 2 ahead of its debut and production scheduled to begin this fall, HBO is poised to go all in on the reboot.
The Wizarding World is officially set to enter an exciting new era, with the ambitious new series expected to introduce Harry Potter to a new generation while giving longtime fans a more faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling's beloved novels. And if the HBO series wasn't enough in itself, Harry Potter is making a massive comeback on the gaming front as well, with the highly anticipated Defenders of Hogwarts TTRPG blowing past its crowdfunding goal and hype for the Hogwarts Legacy sequel at an all-time high.
And with all the excitement about these various projects, Harry Potter fans may have missed the upcoming release of Harry Potter: Norbert's Transport, officially slated for this Wednesday, July 29 (via HPHM).
According to a recent update to Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, fans will be getting a brand-new glimpse at "life beyond Hogwarts on July 29 with the 'Norbert’s Transport' Beyond Special Preview, featuring Hagrid and his baby dragon, Norbert." Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is celebrating its "Summer of Mystery" event with a preview of "Norbert's Transport," an upcoming Beyond Hogwarts adventure inspired by one of the most memorable moments from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
The special story sees players reunite with Hagrid and Charlie Weasley to help secretly transport Hagrid's beloved baby Norwegian Ridgeback dragon, Norbert, out of Hogwarts before he's discovered. Players can expect the return of familiar beloved characters, a new look at the adorable baby dragon Norbert, and a nostalgia-fueled retelling of the events that ultimately led to Harry, Hermione, and Neville receiving detention in the Forbidden Forest.
The preview is one of several anniversary celebrations marking 25 years of the first Harry Potter novel, alongside community events, rewards, and themed in-game activities. Developed by Jam City, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is a free-to-play mobile RPG that launched in 2018 for iOS and Android.
The game allows players to become their own unique student at Hogwarts, attending classes, learning spells, building friendships, and uncovering an original story set before Harry Potter ever shows up at the school. Since launch, it has expanded with the "Beyond Hogwarts" storyline, giving longtime players a post-graduation experience with new adventures, seasonal events, and the return of beloved characters from across the Wizarding World, such as Hagrid and Norbert.
If you haven't had a chance to play Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery or experience the "Beyond Hogwarts" stories, now is as good a time as any to dive in. The free-to-play RPG remains one of the Wizarding World's most popular mobile games, with millions of downloads and extremely positive ratings on both Google Play and the App Store.
