Fortnite Override: Which Gaming Legends Have Officially Made The Cut

Sonic, Sora, And Every Other Character Confirmed For Fortnite's Override Season

Epic Games has confirmed that the rumors were true. Fortnite’s upcoming season will be all about video game crossovers and include characters from as many different video games as possible. While we might still get a few surprises when the Override season begins on August 20, a significant chunk of the crossover characters have been confirmed via the reveal of the new season’s official key art.

Sonic Leads The Charge

The big get for Fortnite is Sonic the Hedgehog. That’s why the Blue Blur is up front and leading the pack. He won’t be coming to Fortnite alone, though. Also featured in the artwork are Tails, Shadow, and Dr. Robotnik. Other leaks about the contents of Override suggest Robotnik might be working alongside Fortnite’s current big bag, Geno, who is also pictured.

Sonic isn’t the only big gaming mascot that will be making his Fortnite debut on Thursday. Also prominently featured are Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon. Although Sonic’s Fortnite design is the one that has been getting the most flak, Crash’s look is the only one that really looks off to me. Spyro, on the other hand, looks fantastic, with this seemingly about to be an early runout for his redesign in A Real Beyond.

Pac-Man, Mega Man, And Returning Skins

The oldest video game legend heading to Fortnite this week may well be Pac-Man. Making his debut in arcades the world over in 1980, Pac-Man’s arrival on the gaming scene predates Sonic by over a decade. He’s even older than Mario, who would appear for the first time in the original Donkey Kong. That means he and the villainous ghosts that have been chasing him for the past 46 years have the honor of being the oldest characters to be confirmed for Override.

Mega Man is a big get for Fortnite too, and much like Sonic, the Capcom platforming mascot won’t be coming alone. Not only will his canine companion Rush be joining him, but the Mega Man pup is right up front alongside Sonic. Capcom’s other confirmed contributions to the new season included Ryu and Blanka from Street Fighter.

We’ve not even touched on the character Fortnite fans are most excited about. The honor almost certainly goes to Sora. Between Sora’s imminent addition to Fortnite and more reveals than you can shake a keyblade at during D23 last weekend, Kingdom Hearts fans finally have something to look forward to.

Fortnite has included a lot of video game characters already, and a few of those skins are confirmed to be coming back. Lara Croft, one of the characters from Peak, and Master Chief are all re-entering the beetle royale. Geralt is also among the returning gaming legends, which either means he’s getting a new skin, or his original look is about to finally leave Battle Pass prison.
