Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake confirmed for November as stunning new gameplay trailer drops

Finally, Nintendo has dropped a stunning new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, while also confirming its release date, and the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 game is going head-to-head with GTA VI.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is widely regarded as one of the greatest Nintendo games ever made, and its legendary status is reflected by its mighty 99 Metacritic score. Now, more than two decades after its original release, the iconic Nintendo 64 adventure is being rebuilt from the ground up for a new generation.

Originally released on the N64 in 1998, Ocarina of Time has since made its way to Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch Online. However, the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake marks the first time Nintendo has completely rebuilt the classic as a full-scale remake, giving fans plenty of reason to be excited.

The stunning game shows Link exploring Kokiri Forest and shows modern quality-of-life improvements such as a free-moving camera and free manual jumping, both of which were not available in the 1998 original. Link also chats with his friend Saria, visits the Kokiri Forest Shop before taking us to the Great Deku Tree.

Inside the Great Deku Tree, we get to explore the first dungeon area of the game, with Link’s companion, Navi. Link then shows his combat skills against a Deku Baba and soon opens the treasure chest containing Link’s trusty weapon, a Fairy Slingshot. Of course, we were also treated to the iconic chest-opening music. Oh, the nostalgia.

The gameplay then jumps to Hyrule Field, where we not only see Death Mountain in the distance, but we also venture inside Hyrule Castle and are greeted by the ever-charming town. Link also plays his ocarina and meets his beloved pony, Epona.

Another cool improvement is that all characters in the game will be fully voiced during cutscenes.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake will officially launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026.
