This 2D-Like Green Yuri Fan Art Is 3D Scene Made in Blender

These 2D Characters from Popular Manga Are Made in 3D with Blender

Chloe Worthy shared their take on the Green Yuri manga cover.

Chloe Worthy shared a stunning Blender recreation of the iconic cover of a manga series named The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't a Guy at All, also known as Green Yuri.

In Worthy's recreation of the cover, both characters appear more feminine, and Mitsuki Koga's pose is more relaxed compared to the original artwork. This was the author's own decision, as they handled the 3D modeling and texturing for Koga. Taanthip Tuchinda made the 3D model for Aya Osawa and did the texturing on the character.

On ArtStation, Worthy shared that they applied all the Grease Pencil effects, added animations, and finalized the piece by rendering it in Blender under the guidance of Ocean Daniel. By experimenting with lattices in Blender, the artist adjusted the viewing angle in the composition to mimic the signature manga foreshortening without making it too extreme.

Aside from Blender, both artists used ZBrush to sculpt the characters and Substance 3D Painter to do most of the texturing. Worthy used Blender's Shape Keys to animate the characters' eyes and Weight Painting to create hair movement.
