Ghost Recon Wildlands Update Has Finally Answered A Nine Year Fan Request

After Nearly A Decade, Ghost Recon Wildlands Has Addressed One Of The Game's Biggest Complaints

Ghost Recon Wildlands got a pretty massive update earlier this week, not only bringing the game onto next generation consoles nine years after release, but also adding a whole new mission, and the return of The Predator. It's a pretty whopping update, breathing new life into the game, and it's even addressed one of the key complaints that fans have had for almost a decade.

If you look back on old forums and Reddit posts, you'll see that one of the chief complaints about Ghost Recon Wildlands was the inability to equip just a single main weapon outside the game's Ghost mode. You were forced to carry two main weapons, and while you'd think that would be beneficial, a lot of people disliked how cumbersome it was, and how unrealistic it made the game feel. You can even find eight-year-old Reddit threads complaining about this exact issue (thanks GamesRadar).

Ghost Recon Wildlands Finally Lets You Play With One Weapon

Well, now eight years have passed, Ubisoft has finally decided to throw players a bone. First spotted by a Reddit user called Ghost403, it now appears as though Ghost Recon Wildlands will now let you choose to wield one weapon outside of Ghost mode. You can now sneak about in the game without having ten tonnes of metal strapped to your back at any given time.

It seems like a very small change that will only appeal to a few, but it does highlight how much thought Ubisoft has actually put into this update, as it's seemingly tried to address as many pain points as it could with Last Rites.

Hopefully, the same amount of care and thought will be put into the next Ghost Recon game, but early reports have indicated that things haven't been going quite so well. Apparently, the game is currently being hampered by "unrealistic deadlines", though we haven't heard much about the project since. Hopefully, if Last Rites is successful, it will convince Ubisoft to give the next Ghost Recon the time it needs.
