This Free Blender Tool Makes Hair Rigging Easier
Automatically create deform bone chains along stylized hair strands.
If you're working with stylized 3D characters, this new Blender tool can save you the hassle of placing hair bones manually during rigging. It automatically generates bone chains from a selected hair tip and lets you choose whether the bones follow the hair strand or form a straight line
You can manually define hair tip and hair root markers for better control, and adjust the number of bones, how much hair they cover, root depth, direction, and more. The generator supports open hair cards, closed or tubular hair, and multiple selected hair strands.
To use it, you'll need Blender 4.5 LTS or newer. The generator works fully inside Blender and requires no external dependencies or network access. You can download it from the Blender Extensions platform.
