Is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake on Nintendo Switch 1?

Having now had our first look at the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake, you might be wondering if it's coming to Nintendo Switch 1.

While the Switch 2 already boasts some heavy hitters, plenty of players are sticking with their Switch 1 consoles until the Switch 2 has enough exclusives to make the upgrade worthwhile.

But could Zelda be the straw that breaks the camel's back? Here's what you need to know about whether the Ocarina of Time remake is coming to Switch 1.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is not releasing on Nintendo Switch 1.

While plenty of Nintendo exclusives have released over the last year for both Switch 1 and 2, such as Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Nintendo is gradually moving towards making all new releases Switch 2 exclusives.

This year alone, we've had Pokémon Pokopia, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book and Star Fox all release on the Switch 2 without a Switch 1 version, adding to the likes of Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza from last year.

Considering one of the main reasons for the game's existence is modernising the graphics, it's perhaps not a surprise that Nintendo wants to make the most of the Switch 2's enhanced specs.

So, Ocarina of Time isn't releasing on Switch 1, but is there a chance that it might release on the console in the future? We obviously can't be 100 per cent sure, but we think it's pretty safe to say that the answer to this is also no – sorry.
