Lobo's Wildest Superpower Officially Confirmed by DC

Adam has been writing in the entertainment news space for over a decade. Beginning his career of covering film and TV at CinemaBlend, he has also appeared on The Flash Podcast and done several radio spots.

Lobo is known by a lot of nicknames, including The Last Czarnian (because he killed every other member of his species), Scourge o' the Cosmos, and The Main Man. While he’s the only one who calls himself that last nickname, the alien bounty hunter can at least back up the other two with his sheer might. Lobo ranks as one of DC Comics’ most powerful characters, boasting a number of special abilities.

From super strength and durability, to genius-level intellect and regeneration, Lobo, a.k.a. DC's own Deadpool, has repeatedly proven that he’s not to be trifled with both in the comics and other media. The regeneration especially comes in handy since it makes him functionally immortal. However, on the slim chance that Lobo does end up in the afterlife, DC has confirmed the wildest superpower in his arsenal that aids him even there.

Lobo Literally Can’t Go To Hell

Lobo (2026) #6, Written By Skottie Young, Art By Jorge Corona

After getting his bounty hunting license back in Lobo #5, the preview pages for Lobo #6 show the title antihero trying to reach the Tooth Fairy, who was revealed at the end of the last issue as his latest adversary. There’s just one problem: the Tooth Fairy is in the Little Fair Lands portion of Hell, and Lobo is not allowed back into that fiery underworld. Derek Dood, the Managing Administrator of the Afterlife, won’t budge on this when Lobo goes to see him in Limbo Incorporated.

The Tooth Fairy is Lobo’s latest target, and once he takes a contract, he’ll finish it no matter what. So, angered by Derek refusing to give him a pass, Lobo punches the administrator, prompting two angels to suddenly appear, sentence the Czarnian to death, and, because they’re not looped in, intend to give him “a one-way ticket to Hell.” Since Lobo can’t truly die, he bargains with Derek to give him a round-trip ticket instead so that he’ll get out of his “hilarious ‘80s white guy hair,” and the big boss of Limbo begrudgingly agrees.

Lobo is now on his way to track down The Tooth Fairy in Hell, a.k.a. floor 666, with his trusty canine companion Dawg. How their fight with this folkloric figure will go down remains to be seen, but these Lobo #6 preview pages are another reminder of what a nuisance its main protagonist has made of himself. He’s even been banned from the realm where souls are tortured for eternity, and under normal circumstances, Lobo would certainly belong there. Yet, once again, he solves a problem using violence.

Skottie Young and Jorge Corona’s Lobo is the character's fourth ongoing title by that name since he was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Gifften for 1983’s Omega Men #3. However, it wasn’t until the early 1990s that Lobo started becoming popular, with Giffen teaming up with writer Alan Grant and artist Simon Bisley to craft the character’s traditional look and backstory. Outside of the comics, Lobo was most recently portrayed by Jason Momoa in the DC Universe-set movie Supergirl.

Lobo #6 will be released by DC Comics on Wednesday, August 19.
