The first real trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is here, showcasing the film's massive ensemble cast and giving us our best look yet as Robert Downey Jr.'s return to the MCU as the villainous Doctor Doom.
Disney and Marvel Studios finally gave MCU fans what they've been waiting months for. After a handful of brief character teasers that focused on Steve Rogers, Thor, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Wakandans, and Namor, Marvel has delivered what fans were expecting to see months ago: an honest-to-goodness trailer for Avengers: Doomsday.
After a series of middling box office showings for its superhero movies, Marvel Studios hopes to return to Avengers: Endgame glory with an all-star show of force that brings back characters from the past decade-plus of the MCU and the Fox era of X-Men films. Even Shang-Chi will be back! Directors Joe and Anthony Russo return to Marvel with the mandate of reviving the broad cultural interest (and box office) of their previous Avengers twofer.
The next Avengers movie stars Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, alongside returning Marvel actors Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Joseph Quinn the Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as White Widow, Kelsey Grammer as the Beast, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M'Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
Avengers: Doomsday lands in movie theaters on Dec. 18. A direct sequel is already in the works, with 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars.
