Add Editable Edge Detail To Your Blender Meshes
Create Sculpted-Looking Edge Details With Decals In Blender
Generate decals in just a few clicks, and place and fine-tune them exactly how you want.
Originally started as a simple mesh decal script, this has grown into a full add-on for creating non-destructive decals along mesh edges. Gilad Baruch's tool is great for edge wear, welding lines, grime, trim details, and other effects that need to follow an object's edges, crevices, or intersections.
You can generate decals across an asset in just a few clicks, or jump into interactive mode to place, connect, resize, and refine them exactly where you want. It also has a layer-based workflow and one-click export to Unreal Engine, along with the option to export as a combined FBX.
To use Edge Decal Generator, you'll need Blender 5.1 or newer. The tool already has extensive documentation and has received several updates. The latest version, 1.2.0, adds a new UV Projection feature, automatically enables the Bevel Modifier when the source mesh already uses one, and includes other fixes.
According to the developer, the next version will add support for more surface types and new high-quality decals. Here's a first look at the wood edge damage:
