Halo Studios Reportedly Has No Other Games In Development, Uncertain On Future Remakes
Last week, content creator Rebs Gaming claimed that several current and former employees had made allegations of mismanagement and abuse against Halo Studios head Pierre Hintze, which was later corroborated by Windows Central senior editor Jez Corden.
In a new video, Rebs expanded on his original report, discussing the ongoing turmoil at Halo Studios and the uncertainty over the future of the franchise. Supposedly, the original plan was to launch three games in three years — Campaign Evolved, Project Ekur, and a new campaign.
However, Rebs alleged that Ekur and the new campaign were canceled, as focus shifted to getting Campaign Evolved back on track. “Handling multiple projects at once proved to be too difficult for leadership,” he explained.
Two Canceled Games, Campaign Evolved DLC, And The Halo MMO: The State Of Halo Studios
Rebs claimed that Ekur originally began as a battle royale game, which was then turned into an extraction shooter, and then reverted back to a battle royale. Allegedly, “leadership never planned to release Ekur with classic multiplayer modes,” despite the team pushing for an arena component, while “development was a mess and the project was behind schedule." Rebs even said that the team was anticipating major crunch to prepare it for the upcoming Halo Fest.
“Development of the next main campaign was supposed to start in parallel with Ekur, but leadership failed to create a proper plan or vision for the project and only a few people were hired to develop it,” Rebs continued. “They had many interviews for the creative director position, but the role was never filled.”
Right now, Rebs alleges that “Halo Studios does not have any other mainline campaign or multiplayer project in full development,” and that “there’s uncertainty around what will happen with the Halo 2 and 3 remakes.” Development teams are reportedly hurrying to create concepts for the next game, which means that the “best case scenario for Halo Fest is that a new Halo experience will be in early development and announced.”
As for the rumored Halo MMO, according to Rebs, “nobody at the studio has heard of a Halo MMO. If it’s actually real, Halo Studios has nothing to do with this.” And with no projects currently in the pipeline other than the remake, Rebs claimed that Halo Studios is exploring a possible Campaign Evolved DLC.
