Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Anime Gets a New Trailer

The second season launches on Netflix on October 20, and its creators discussed the new child lead and how the sequel balances with season one.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, the second season of the anime series set in CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077's Night City, received a new trailer. The anime will launch on October 20 exclusively on Netflix.

The second season brings a fresh story from the world of Edgerunners, centered on Roman Carax, a young fan of old movies, and Talia Yang, who belongs to the cyberware-loving Maelstrom gang. CDPR's Bartosz Sztybor, VP of Franchise, shared (via IGN) that the second season of the anime echoes the tone of the first season, as it's a "dialogue" between two characters, "but only to stay true to core principles of the Edgerunners franchise." Sztybor shared that the biggest challenge was not to repeat the first season's motifs and not to create something "extremely opposite."

Saya Elder shared an interesting detail about one of the protagonists, Roman, who is a child – someone who doesn't seem to fit perfectly into a brutal dystopian world – and it's his passion for filmmaking that leads him to dangerous places. "Roman is motivated by his desire to capture stories through his camera, and that motivation is the reason he keeps ending up in places where no child should ever be," Elder said.

The first season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners premiered on Netflix four years ago, and the sequel was announced last year. The teaser for season 2 and the premiere date teaser trailer shared a glimpse of the show's characters and story:
