Rick & Morty Season 10 Release Window Officially Confirmed By Showrunners
Rick and Morty is making an expected comeback.
Seris showrunners Dan Harmon and Scott Marder have officially confirmed the release window for season 10, teasing when the show will return to Adult Swim. Rick and Morty season 9 was considered a major step up for the series, becoming the first season of the show to ever reach a 100% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. The 10-episode series aired from May to July 2026, with new episodes airing weekly on Adult Swim. This was the same case for season 8, which aired from May to July 2025.
Speaking with Deadline Hollywood about the series, Harmon and Marder confirmed that Rick and Morty season 10 will be released in May 2027. Marder said season 10 will be out within the same time window as season 9, with all of its episodes confirmed to air on a week-by-week basis, just like before. The pair hype up the season and what they've heard about how it's coming along so far, with the show still in production as they prepare for more. Check out what Harmon and Marder had to say below:
Scott Marder: Yep, season 10’s gonna come out the same time, it’s going to run all the way through.
Dan Harmon: It’s being generated by Palantir as we speak.
Scott Marder: [Chuckles] We’re not allowed to see it until it airs, but we hear good things.
Every season of Rick and Morty has, for the most part, had different air dates depending on which season was airing at a certain time. The show has never truly followed a set release schedule for its episodes, which have mostly come out one with over a year between seasons. However, this pattern was broken with season 8, with the show having returned the same week of May for two years in a row. This is an unprecedented new release schedule for the series, but one Harmon and Marder intend to keep up with going into season 10.
It's unclear if this pattern will remain for the rest of the series, though. Rick and Morty has been renewed through season 12, meaning the show's final season could air in May 2029, should it retain the same yearly release schedule moving forward. But, at the same time, the franchise is starting to expand in numerous ways. This includes the currently-airing President Curtis spinoff, which has already been renewed for season 2. A movie based on the series is also in development, confirmed by Harmon in May of this year.
As for the events of season 10, nothing is known just yet, other than Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden will be reprising their roles as Rick and Morty in the show, alongside the other major voice actors for the series. Now that the showrunners have confirmed season 10's release window, the series' regular release schedule seems all but set in stone for the foreseeable future. It also means high expectations for the show to come out once a year moving forward.
Thanks to the franchise's continued expansion, it seems like a yearly release schedule for Rick and Morty is going to be the new normal moving forward. With season 10 now set to arrive next spring, it'll be quite some time before promotional material reveals what to expect. But, with wild adventures always in store, it appears plentiful tales are going to be inevitable.
