PC limited-time free game offer includes 94% rated roguelike that’ll save you $25

If you’re a PC gamer, then you’re going to want to make your weekly pilgrimage to the Epic Games Store to claim its latest free game offerings.

This week, you can claim two titles that’ll save you a collective $40 which is nothing to turn your nose up at in this economy.

As always, once claimed, these games are yours forever with no strings attached, but you only have until 4pm BST on Thursday October 1, which is when the line-up refreshes.

If you’re a fan of roguelikes, you’re in luck in this latest Epic Games Store line-up

If you’re not already a fan of roguelikes, perhaps you should learn to love them because it sure does feel like every major game comes with a roguelike mode these days that no one asked for.

Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles is a pretty good example, and you can save yourself $24.99 by nabbing it for free on the Epic Games Store.

Developed by Little Leo Games and originally launched in 2023, the game also incorporates dice deckbuilding mechanics as you attempt to purify Astrea’s corruption and save a star system.

As you’ve likely gathered, you’ll build a deck of dice instead of cards, with the game making use of a dual damage system.

You can unleash both purification and corruption damage. The former will damage enemies and heal yourself while the latter will do the opposite.

If you’re wondering why you would want to damage yourself and heal your enemies, infusing yourself with corruption damage allows you to unleash powerful corruption-based attacks, so it’s all a matter of risk and reward.

You can pick from six playable Oracles, each of who boast their own unique starter dice set, abilities, and playstyle. While you may prefer a spellcaster, other players may want to venture down the berserker route.

The game has 16 difficulty levels so you can really customise it to your ability, whether you’re new to the genre or a seasoned professional - and gamers love it, with a 94% approval rating on Steam.

“It is hard to make a dice game feel fair and fun. This does both beautifully. Addicting and well made. Give it a chance,” one player recently worte.

While a single run can be completed in around an hour or so, Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles will take you 12-plus hours to finish its main story or around 50-hours for completionist runs, according to How Long To Beat.

If roguelikes aren’t for you, perhaps I can interest you in Mechabellum which is also free in this week’s line-up.

This one usually retails for $14.99 and was first released by developer Game River and publisher Dreamhaven in 2024.

As you’ve likely gathered above, this is a mech-based auto-battler. You’ll need to draft machines, customise them, master formations and more as you partake in large-scale 3D battles.

Mechabellum describes itself as “all strategy, no clickfest”.

There are plenty of modes available including the likes of 1v1, 2v2, free-for-all, and Survival Mode.

This one also has a decent rating from players, sitting at 84% on Steam with someone even referring to Mechabellum as “my favourite game I have ever played”. They have 975 hours on record to back it up.

There’s no specific runtime then. You can just keep loading into new battles and matches.
