These games are leaving Xbox Game Pass on August 15, including a fan favorite
Microsoft will remove irewatch, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Atlas Fallen: Reign of Sand, and MENACE from Xbox Game Pass on August 15.
Xbox Game Pass is losing four games on August 15: Firewatch, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Atlas Fallen: Reign of Sand, and MENACE, which is still in Game Preview, are all leaving Microsoft's on-demand gaming platform.
Firewatch's departure is probably the one that players will notice first. The narrative-driven exploration game from Campo Santo has remained a fan favorite since its 2016 release. Its presence on Game Pass has made it an easy, low-commitment recommendation for anyone who hasn’t gotten around to playing it yet.
I’ve personally put off playing Firewatch for a long time because it’s been on Game Pass for three years, and it felt like it would always be there. But this just proves that no title is safe on Game Pass. So, if you’ve been thinking about playing a certain game, do it, because it may not be there in the future.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite offers a more traditional co-op shooter experience set in the Alien universe, while Atlas Fallen: Reign of Sand is an action RPG built around dynamic desert terrain and shape-shifting weapons. MENACE, meanwhile, is a tactical squad-based game still in Game Preview, so it is leaving the subscription before even reaching a full release.
If you've been meaning to play any of these, especially Firewatch, now's the time to actually get through it before the August 15 cutoff. Once a game leaves Game Pass, continuing to play it requires buying it outright, the same as any other title not included in the subscription.
This comes shortly after news that Xbox 360 games might become playable on PC in the near future. So, it’s probably too much to expect multiple pieces of good Xbox news on the same day, especially in the current state of Microsoft’s entire gaming division.
