Ahsoka Season 2's Explosive New Story Teased By Returning Star Wars Actor
Ahsoka is about to increase the action.
Series actor Eman Esfandi, who plays Ezra Bridger in the live-action Star Wars show, has teased season 2's explosive new story as it prepares to return. Ahsoka season 2 will continue the story of the titular Jedi as she continues her battle against Thrawn and the newly rebuilding Empire. The story of season 2 will see Ahsoka, Sabine, and Ezra seeking out Baylan Skoll, with their journey connected to the Mortis gods and other mysterious elements in the galaxy. The new episodes arrive on Disney+ in early 2027.
In an interview with ScreenRant's Tatiana Hullender on the Spider-Man: Brand New Day red carpet, Esfandi teased what to expect from Ahsoka season 2 ahead of its return. The actor explained how the show will have plenty of high-octane action, while also teasing an important flashback for Ezra. He praised creator, writer, and showrunner Dave Filoni for his approach to the series, indicating there will be plenty of wild events and epic surprises in store.
Check out what Esfandi had to say below:
ScreenRant: On the other hand, you are beloved in Ahsoka season 2, we all await it. What are you most excited to bring to fans?
Eman Esfandi: A lot of action. Fights, battles, explosions, lightsabers, lasers. I’m having a flashback. So a lot of action, and I think everybody’s gonna love it. Dave [Filoni] went nuts, and all of us were ready to follow suit of our fearless leader, and it’s gonna be a lot of fun.
Ahsoka season 1 ended with Thrawn's return to the galaxy, intent on rebuilding the Empire and taking control of it for himself. He serves as the primary antagonist of the series, and a core threat following the events of Return of the Jedi. In the meantime, Baylan's quest to Peridea was revealed to have ties to the Mortis gods, setting the stage for the next adventure as Ahsoka and crew try to locate him. Ezra joining the New Republic sets the stage for his importance as well, finally continuing his story following his fate in Rebels.
Based on Esfandi's statement, it seems like Ahsoka's characters are going to be wrestling with many new conflicts at the forefront, with the biggest being Thrawn and what his involvement means for the galaxy. It's unclear how the action is going to play out, but based on Esfandi's statement, it'll be an engaging approach that ensures a major level of intensity that will define it. The show will help to flesh out Star Wars' post-Luke storyline, while also laying the groundwork for a bigger conflict on the horizon.
Ahsoka is one of multiple upcoming TV projects in the Star Wars universe. The anime series Star Wars: Visions Presents The Ninth Jedi will arrive on August 5, 2026, while season 2 of Maul - Shadow Lord is also in development. Ahsoka remains the only live-action Star Wars TV show to have a confirmed continuation, with the rest of the franchise's future in that regard up in the air. But, as Esfandi indicates, it'll be a highly memorable return that will more than make up for a gap of over three years between seasons.
Although it doesn't have a release date yet, Ahsoka is poised to be yet another impressive installment in the Star Wars universe. With plenty of action set to transpire and numerous twists in the story already set up, it seems like there's going to be a major expansion for the New Republic era. One that will excite with familiarity, while also being a prominent new story in the franchise.
