The word WORN OUT sticks out in today's puzzle for having little meaning other than "tired," making an idea that other concepts support. For example, SPENT and BEAT don't really associate with anything other than being tired either, at least in the context of any other word presented in the puzzle. With that logic, FRIED also works as the final connecting point in this category.

At first, I imagined that LEG and PHASE were related as words tied to escape, such as to "leg it" or "phase out" of somewhere. Inadvertently, this was the right idea, but I didn't realize it until I put STAGE with the first two words to see if the category was really about parts of a greater whole. STRETCH was a better fit for the second strategy, allowing me to find the solution to this part of the puzzle.

Whenever I see a complex word like CHAMOMILE in a Connections puzzle, I try to break it down to see what words stand out within it. In CHAMOMILE's case, there was the phrase "mile" at the end of it, a unit of measurement shared by "inch" residing in GRINCH. While I mistook HOTFOOT with PHASE and LEG at first, seeing "foot" within it led me to also see "yard" in LANYARD, completing this section.

Similarly to HOTFOOT, I imagined HIGHTAIL was a term used for escape until I broke it down. By following the same idea from the blue category, we can find that "stalk" within BEANSTALK, "shadow" in EYESHADOW, and "tail" within HIGHTAIL all represent following someone without their knowledge. With "track" in SOUNDTRACK too, this Connections puzzle's hardest category has a far simpler solution than expected.
