Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is wrapping things up with one last big update that adds in new game plus and a throwback to the original game
Plus more besides
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is setting sail for quieter pastures. That's because the game's last big update arrived today, with Ubisoft explaining that there are only plans for quality-of-life updates for the game going forward. Still, it's a meaty enough sounding update, and one that could in theory keep you going forever if you'd like to torture yourself by relegating your life to a single video game.
Well, maybe not forever. This update is introducing new game plus, letting you replay the game from the start, if you're the kind of person that somehow has time for that. It'll be possible to do this up to five times, with each subsequent playthrough increasing the difficulty level. You'll get to hang on to things like tools, weapons, upgrades for the Jackdaw, outfits, hideout progression, codex items and more besides.
With new game plus also comes a new difficulty setting, nightmare mode, which "transforms Black Flag Resynced into a brutal fight for survival where every duel can be your last. Enemies react faster, hit harder, and punish hesitation. The Caribbean is as beautiful as ever, but beneath the waves and beyond the horizon, death awaits the unprepared." Parrying timing is also reduced in this mode, there's no more white glint on enemy attacks, and the one-shot kill safety is disabled. On the stealth front, deduction time is greatly reduced and enemies can hear you when you're moving faster than anything above a walk.
Beyond this, a number of community chests have been hidden around the game, "some with special community requested rewards." You can also expect some new, or technically old, takedowns; "We have brought back takedown animations from the original game, including hidden blade, unarmed, single sword and gunblade takedowns." There's also some new cosmetics, and a good range of bug fixes. You can read about all of that over on Ubisoft's website.
This all comes the same month that Ubisoft laid off 70 workers at Ubisoft Singapore, the lead developer on Black Flag Resynced. Solidarity with all those affected.
