Night Plane is a horror game designed to scare me, specifically, because I hate flying—and deer demons

I hate flying. Crammed into a tiny metal tube with 100s of other people, 1000s of feet in the air, unnaturally defying the will of God—it's awful. I don't know how flight attendants stay so calm and professional the entire time. At least in the real world they don't have to contend with shape-shifting demons like they do in Night Plane, the upcoming horror job sim from Liquid Static Studio.

In a new trailer unveiled during the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct, things get spooky real quick. A deer just stands there, menacingly staring at the flight attendant before they board the Plane Airlines plane, and we see a bloody handprint smeared on the emergency door.

There's also a smattering of eerie shots throughout the airport, looking like something out of The Backrooms. But it's not just the airport and plane, oh no. We catch a few glimpses of a cave and forest, so it looks like the plane crash lands at some point.

And with what was occurring on board, I'm not surprised. Passengers levitating in the air, deer demons charging down the aisle. Awful stuff. On top of all that, you actually have to work.

Night Plane is, at its core, a job simulator. You'll need to check tickets, attend to the needs of the passengers, and try to eject non-human visitors. How you do that without them eviscerating you, I don't know.

It sounds a bit like Papers, Please, only with the added element of my deathly fear of flying, so it seems like a strong horror game. If you want to try it out for yourself, you can download the demo now. And you won't have to wait long for the full release, as the game is coming out October 26, 2026. You can wishlist it on Steam.
