X-Men's Filming Start Window & Jean Grey's Marvel Arc Revealed By Sadie Sink

Following her blockbuster debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Sadie Sink has revealed when she will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Jean Grey.
After months of secrecy and speculation, Sink’s casting as the iconic Marvel mutant was not officially confirmed until Brand New Day’s release. In the film, she acts as a misguided antagonist to Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland) while she seeks to avenge her sister’s death.
While fans had long-guessed that Sink would be playing Jean, the confirmation sparked a wave of excitement. Consequently, it was revealed that Kit Connor would play Jean’s love interest and fellow X-Men teammate, Scott Summers/Cyclops. Samara Weaving is also confirmed to play Emma Frost.
Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier will direct the new X-Men reboot with Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo writing. The film does not yet have a release date.
Now, after the news of Sink’s casting is official, the star is breaking her silence about the upcoming film and how long fans will have to wait. She explained in a Vanity Fair interview, "We’ll shoot X-Men, and then I’m going to do a series with FX and A24 called The Marriage Plot, so that'll be next year."
Additionally, Sink divulged that she and Schreier have been in conversations about Jean’s arc and how she fits into the X-Men. "Jean’s struggle will be important in the future of her character and where she goes, just makes her really well-rounded, which I’m excited for," said the Stranger Things star.

Previously, she shared how she came to join the upcoming X-Men reboot. "Honestly, I knew nothing about her," Sink said. "People had started rumors about me playing that character — for like years, it had kind of been circulating online—so that was all I knew about her. But I had never seen X-Men, so I was just like unfamiliar."
She continued:
Then Kevin [Feige] and Louis [D’Esposito] from Marvel called me, set up a meeting, and just told me about the character, about her role in Spider-Man. Then I did more research on her, and I was like, “Oh yeah, this is a no-brainer!” She’s such an iconic figure in X-Men and in comics, and I’m very excited to bring my iteration of her to life.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently playing in theaters worldwide. Marvel's X-Men is speculated to release in 2028, but no official release date has been confirmed.
