Final Fantasy 7 Revelation playable demo leaks ahead of imminent reveal

According to a recent leak, it looks like Final Fantasy VII Revelation could be getting a playable demo ahead of a rumoured reveal at Gamescom next week.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is the conclusion of the remake trilogy from Square Enix that began with the critically acclaimed Final Fantasy VII Remake in 2020. It was then followed up with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024.
Square Enix revealed Final Fantasy VII Revelation with an epic trailer during Summer Game Fest in June 2026, sending fans of the ever-popular RPG series into a frenzy across the world. Now, with its scheduled arrival in spring 2027, fans are excited to see more of the remake trilogy's conclusion.
Fans could play Final Fantasy VII Revelation next week!
As shared by Redditor Fairgeltung, the German news website ‘Gameswirtschaft’ has published an article featuring a list of games that will be playable at Gamescom, which takes place between August 26 and August 30 in Cologne, Germany,
While this leak should be taken with a pinch of salt until officially proven otherwise, perhaps this German news outlet knows something that others don’t, especially being located in the same country where Gamescom is held. Only time will tell.
The article mentions that the public Final Fantasy VII Revelation demo will be playable in “Hall 8”. Interestingly, that article was later updated, and details on the highly anticipated Square Enix RPG were removed. This would naturally leave many believing that official information may have been accidentally leaked ahead of schedule.
What are Final Fantasy fans saying about this apparent leak?
“It was either going to be playable here or at Tokyo Game Show. The game has been playable from start to finish for a long time now,” replied Iggy_Slayer.
“My most anticipated game of 2027 alongside Kingdom Hearts 4. Square Enix is on a crazy roll currently,” said Loose_Society9485.
“This tracks; I’m sure Rebirth had a playable demo at some convention which then got released for the masses before the game launched,” explained exopolitixs.
“My hype is maximum!” declared JWPruett.
What’s the story of Final Fantasy VII Revelation?

“Now, Cloud and his companions must stand against this chaos to not only decide the planet's fate, but bring a legendary conflict to its conclusion,” reads the synopsis of the game. In the final chapter of the Final Fantasy VII Remake project, the scale has never been larger, and the stakes have never been higher.
