The Marvel Cinematic Universe is adding a massive mutant to the franchise.
While the MCU timeline is focusing on finishing the remainder of The Multiverse Saga, one of the most iconic teams in the entire Marvel canon is about to get reimagined in Kevin Feige's massive continuity. As the world will see Fox's X-Men one last time in Avengers: Doomsday this fall, a new era is on its way.
Deadline reports that Samara Weaving has boarded the X-Men reboot cast as Marvel's Emma Frost. As of writing, Marvel Studios has yet to comment on the casting. According to the trade, director Jake Schreier and Feige had met "with a number of candidates" for the role before they ultimately decided to give the Australian star the gig.
Deadline went on to mention how casting is currently underway for other roles, stressing that "while Schreier and Marvel execs have been meeting and auditioning actors all summer for a number of roles, the Frost character has felt the most thorough search of the newest cast members." The last cinematic version of Emma was in 2011's X-Men: First Class, where she was played by January Jones.
