8-Part Crime Series With Rare 100% RT Score Is One Of Streaming's Biggest Shows In Just 2 Days
A brand-new crime drama that was only just released on July 27 has already become a huge streaming success.
Crime dramas are very popular with TV audiences. In recent years, The Lincoln Lawyer, Barry, Ozark, Fargo, MobLand and Dexter: Resurrection are just some of the many series that have found success on streaming platforms, along with Harlan Coben's I Will Find You, which is now one of the most popular Netflix shows of all time.
Over on Hulu, Furious has only been out for two days, but it's currently No. 1 on FlixPatrol's Hulu chart in the U.S. (and No. 1 on Hulu's native Top 15 chart).
Furious is ahead of shows and movies like General Hospital, Love Island UK, My Grandfather Charles Manson, Project Runway, Brothers Under Fire, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, Twilight, King of the Hill and Pompeii: Out of Time with Tom Hiddleston.
The crime drama has topped Disney+'s TV streaming chart as well, with Pompeii: Out of Time with Tom Hiddleston, Bluey Compilations, Soy Luna: Let's Roll Again, R.J. Decker, High Potential, X-Men '97, The Testaments, Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair and Sofia the First: Royal Magic also in the Top 10.
Breaking it down by country, the eight-episode show is No. 1 on Disney+ right now in Australia, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
Emmy Rossum, Lola Petticrew, Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Scoot McNairy and Jake Lacy star in Furious, which centers on a homicide detective-turned-FBI agent named Alice Black (Rossum) who investigates a female serial killer in a storyline reminiscent of 1987's Black Widow.
That film, directed by Bob Rafelson, is about a Department of Justice data analyst who works to hold a female serial killer accountable for her crimes, and grossed $25.2 million at the box office.
Elizabeth Meriwether, who created shows like New Girl, The Dropout and Dying for Sex, created Furious and wrote some of the scripts. She also serves as an executive producer with Rossum, Ronald Bass (the screenwriter of Black Widow), Brian Kirk, Matt Olmstead and Sam Hoffman.
Unlike Black Widow, which received positive-to-mixed reviews and a 58% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, Furious currently has a perfect score of 100%. The first three episodes were released on July 27, with the finale set for August 31.
Over the years, Rossum has appeared in movies like Mystic River, The Day After Tomorrow, The Phantom of the Opera and Poseidon, and the TV shows Shameless and The Crowded Room. Now she's back on the small screen in her latest starring role with the crime drama Furious.
