Gillian Anderson unveils ambitious new The X-Files lego set with 1,478 pieces

Gillian Anderson has reprised her X-Files role for a LEGO ad promoting a new set inspired by the popular sci-fi series.

The set includes 1,478 pieces and eight minifigures, including one modelled on Anderson’s character Scully.

Also included are minifigures of Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, Walter Skinner, Mr X, Alex Krycek, Carl Busch, the Flukeman and a grey alien.

The set also features a replica of FBI Agent Fox Mulder’s office, a forest clearing scene and a hovering UFO.

To promote the new set, The LEGO Group released a new short film, in which Anderon reprises her role as Scully.

In the video, a mysterious package is delivered to Scully’s hotel room, which she goes on to investigate.

Multiple components," she says as she inspects the LEGO pieces, and puts it all together, before adding: "Interlocking system."

Anderson said in a statement: “Seeing myself in minifigure form is both surreal and oddly delightful – there’s something very charming about being ‘miniaturised'."

She added: "The whole set is a brilliant celebration of the ‘X-Files’ which I hope fans enjoy revisiting in this way – I know I can’t wait to put tiny Scully on my shelf.”

The new set is part of the LEGO Ideas program, where fans can send in their ideas for new LEGO sets.

This idea was submitted by Australian fan designer and 3-D artist Brent Waller, who said in a statement: “I was obsessed with The X-Files from the moment I first saw it in the ’90s.

"I originally built Mulder’s office back in 2014 while rewatching the series, and it grew from there as a personal project."

He added: "I wanted to combine nostalgia, detail and storytelling to capture the atmosphere of the show – from Mulder’s office to the forest and UFO encounter. I’m thrilled to see it become an official Lego set and hope it resonates with both long-time fans and new audiences.”
