Xbox unveils battle-worn Gears of War E-Day controllers
The Coalition's Xbox exclusive Gears of War E-Day is just a couple of months away from launch, and Microsoft has just unveiled a couple of new accessories that will let fans jump into the action with some style. These are the Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller and the separate Xbox Design Lab variant, which is also themed after the game.
The Limited Edition Xbox controller is inspired by the E-holes that Locust burst out from, featuring 3D molded, laser-etched details that show cracked asphalt and the iconic red cracks across the front plate.
Most of the buttons are black, except for the X, triggers, and D-Pad, which are all transparent with red tints. The battery door on the back of the controller has the iconic COG tag in a silver finish as well.
"Complete your loadout with the new Gears-inspired XBOX controllers, created for fans who want to carry a piece of Sera into every fight," says Microsoft. "Inspired by the horror and brutality unleashed on Emergence Day, the Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition XBOX Wireless Controller captures the raw power of the Locust invasion with a battle-worn design built for fans."
The Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller is available for pre-order now via the Microsoft Store and retailers. The release date is mentioned as October 6.
Meanwhile, starting on September 30, the Xbox Design Lab will let fans create their own version of the Gears of War: E-Day controller. This will feature a "custom top case featuring a skull perched atop crossed Lancers, surrounded by more skulls and battle-worn details inspired by the brutal conflict between the COG and the Locust Horde."
Microsoft has also partnered with 8BitDo to bring out a matching charging dock, which even comes with a rechargeable battery pack.
Gears of War: E-Day is releasing exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 6. It will also be a part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on day one.
