iPhone Users Can Get a Share of Apple's $250 Million Settlement

Apple agreed to pay $250 million under a proposed settlement in a U.S. class action lawsuit over the alleged delayed launch of Siri's AI features.

According to a MacRumors report, U.S. residents who purchased iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max in the U.S. for purposes other than resale between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025, can submit a claim via the settlement website between September 21 and December 21, 2026. Eligible participants can receive approximately $25 from Apple, although the final payment may be higher or lower depending on the number of valid claims submitted and other factors. The maximum payout is $95.

The settlement is scheduled for a final approval hearing on February 24, 2027, so Apple is not expected to start issuing payments until later next year.

Apple previewed a set of AI-powered Siri features in 2024, including more personalized responses and the ability to understand information across apps, but the features allegedly did not become available as initially presented. This led to a class action lawsuit claiming customers were led to expect these features with the iPhone 16, while Apple denied the allegations and agreed to a settlement to avoid the costs and risks of a trial.

Apple rolled out its AI-powered Siri with iOS 27. At this year's product presentation, Apple also unveiled a wide range of new devices, including iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro, and more. The company is also rumored to be developing gaming controllers for iPhone under the Beats brand, although there has been no official confirmation.
