Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls: How To Unlock Every Character Color
The visuals of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls are incredible, with every character color shining in some way through their four default colors. That being said, each fighter in the game has other color palettes players can unlock by meeting specific requirements. Five additional looks for every character provide not just new color schemes, but also references to that Marvel figure's deep history.
Character colors should not be confused with various character skins that are also available for Marvel Tōkon. Those who purchase different editions of this fighting game may receive new looks for fighters as a reward, including the classic costumes for Iron Man and Captain America. Those skins have colors of their own, but the default colors for every fighter have palettes tied to in-game objectives.
How Many Character Colors Can You Unlock In Marvel Tōkon?
Multiple Expressions Of Different Fighters As Goals For Players
Purchasing a character skin gives you all its color palettes, but the default costumes of every character come with nine color schemes, adding to the four you get as a default. For example, Spider-Man initially comes with four character colors when you boot up the game, including looks referencing two looks when the wall crawler was part of The Fantastic Four and the hero's Symbiote Spider-Man appearance.
As of this time of writing, it is unknown if other Character Colors will be added to the game at a later date. This applies to other cosmetics as well, including skins, Avatar character accessories, and more.
Other great references exist in the majority of other character costumes, calling back to different points in that figure's comic history or other figures related to them. Iron Man has character colors that reference War Machine, Black Panther has a White Tiger alternate costume, and even characters like Danger have a Sentinel or Nimrod cameo through character colors. This alone makes every outfit worth unlocking, even if you don't know their origin.
All Character Color Unlock Requirements Explained
Pursue The Right Tasks To Obtain Various Cosmetics Forever
Character Colors 1–4 are unlocked the moment you boot up Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, but colors 5–9 are not. Thankfully, the unlock requirements for most character colors are universal, meaning that one character doesn't have a specific goal that forces you to do something different. That being said, character color's are still unique to individual fighters, so unlocking new looks sometimes depends on what fighter you're playing as.
As of this time of writing, Character Color #7's unlock requirements are unknown. Currently, theories point toward the Arcadia Rumble and Battle Arcadia mini-game modes, or the All-Star Arena survival mode.

Episode Mode is the story of Marvel Tōkon, with five stories featuring five teams of four Marvel characters. Completing any one Episode will unlock four different Character Color #5 outfits, for each character that was in that team. For example, completing an Episode with the Knights of Doom team will reward you with Character Color #5 for Doctor Doom, Magneto, Carnage, and Green Goblin.
Meanwhile, Character Color #6 is tied to a single character, meaning you don't get everyone's outfit from completing the requirement once. If you want every character's Color #6, you have to win 10 matches with each character in online Casual battles. This is the opposite of how you get Character Color #9, which is immediately received by all characters when you meet its requirement.
The Ultimate Edition of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is offered through different bundle deals or as a separate $15 purchase if you already own the game. This version also comes with character skins for several fighters, which come with their entire color palettes.
Character Color #8 might take the longest to get, as it's tied to learning a character's entire move list during their Action Check, then completing a series of Combo Challenge trials too. Once again, doing this will unlock only one character's Color #8, with it being the one tied to the character you completed the challenges as. Yet, you don't have to do the custom Level-Up missions to get Color #8, as those are far harder to accomplish.
Among the many secrets already in the game, the existence of hidden character colors give players an exciting mission to complete beyond just grinding online matches. It will take some time to obtain these colors, but you may have already gotten one or two without realizing it. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls gives players many tools to help them unlock any character color they want, making the process less of a grind than in other fighting games.
