Frieza Finally Makes Dragon Ball Return With Ultimate New Form

Golden Frieza looking angry in Dragon Ball Super

First introduced during Dragon Ball's legendary Namek Saga, the tyrannical emperor Frieza not only destroyed Planet Vegeta and nearly wiped out the Saiyan race, but also pushed Goku to unlock the original Super Saiyan transformation in one of anime's most iconic moments. Despite suffering countless defeats, Frieza has repeatedly clawed his way back into the spotlight, returning stronger each time through new transformations and unforgettable appearances in projects like Dragon Ball Super.

From his epic return in Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' to his pivotal role in the Tournament of Power, the tyrant is a recurring staple of the franchise. Even today, Frieza's future appearances remain among the franchise's most discussed topics, underscoring just how popular the character remains decades after his original debut.

With Dragon Ball continuing to expand across various mediums beyond anime, including manga, films, and games, fans are always eager to see what form Frieza will take next. Now, Dragon Ball Legends is bringing the infamous galactic emperor back once again with an exciting new take on his legendary form (via GR).

Golden Frieza is officially returning to Dragon Ball Legends as one half of a brand-new tag-team Legend unit alongside Android 17, giving fans a chance to relive one of the Tournament of Power's most unexpected alliances. The pair headlines the new "All-Or-Nothing Promise" Legend Rising launch, which drops July 29 (today) and runs through August 26.

Unlike previous versions of the character, this release introduces the game's first-ever Support-type Legend. You can switch between Android 17 and Golden Frieza during battle, restoring allies' health, inflicting debilitating effects on opponents, and charging a Unique Gauge that unlocks a powerful Release Type state. Once activated, the duo gains significant offensive bonuses, resulting in devastating combo attacks inspired by their Dragon Ball Super team-up.

The update also adds Babidi as a new Support character with abilities capable of turning the tide of battle, while the accompanying Ultimate Survival Campaign celebrates the Universe Survival Saga through limited-time events, missions, and rewards.

For longtime Dragon Ball fans, Golden Frieza's newest form and appearance not only revives one of the franchise's most popular transformations but also pays tribute to the unlikely partnership that helped Universe 7 triumph in the Tournament of Power.
