Prime Video's God Of War Eyes Ultimate Kratos Fan Cast For Replacement Star

Prime Video has its eyes on a new God of War.
Created by David Jaffe and developed by Sony's Santa Monica Studio, the God of War franchise is an action-adventure game series that began in 2005. It now has 10 installments with two more games currently in development. Since its release, the series has sold over 76.5 million units and has reportedly generated more than $1.4 billion. God of War follows Greek antihero Kratos and his journey as a Norse father, trying to raise a son after so much bloodshed.
Variety has reported that actor Dave Bautista is in talks to replace Ryan Hurst as Kratos in Prime Video's new adaptation. Hurst injured himself on the set of God of War and tore his bicep, which would have initially delayed the entire production until 2027. However, Amazon and Sony decided to recast the role and reshoot the first four episodes with Hurst's Kratos. Production is reportedly kicking back up again in the fall.
Bautista has been a fan-favorite to play Kratos since the Prime Video series was announced. The actor responded to the fans and addressed the God of War speculation four years ago by commenting on ComicBook.com's Instagram post suggesting he would be a good choice, "According to popular opinion, there’s everyone else. Hey! I love proving people wrong. #justsayin." Perhaps Prime Video will give the actor a chance to prove those who may have doubted him wrong.
The iconic God of War character is known to be incredibly muscular and Bautista's physique seems too good of a fit to turn down at such short notice. Amazon MGM Studios are also familiar with the actor as he had previously appeared in titles such as My Spy and its sequel, The Wrecking Crew, and will be appearing in the Highlander remake and Road House 2.
More to come...
