Most Popular Social Network of Mid-2000s Is Reportedly Coming Back

Owners of Most Popular Social Network of Mid-2000s Are Looking to Relaunch It

"We’re just waiting for the right time."

Millennials are about to be blown away by a blast of nostalgia, as the main social network of their youth might be coming back.

Tommy Avallone's latest documentary, Myspace, unveils the sides of the platform's history that not everybody knows and sees the owners, Chris and Tim Vanderhook, talking about their acquisition of the once-popular site from News Corp.

While it's quite a fun story, the most notable statement in the documentary was the Vanderhooks wishing to restart Myspace:

“We still own Myspace. We are stewards of the Myspace brand at this point, and we are going to relaunch Myspace. We’re just waiting for the right time to do it.”

Exciting! However, for now, this is nothing but words. This wouldn't be the first time Myspace tried to come back. The new owners redesigned it in 2013, but it failed to attract new users or at least entice the old ones back, especially since the platform had more competition by then.

"We really tried to modernize it, but it was a different company at that point," Tim Vanderhook said in the documentary. "It wasn’t the same Myspace."

In the process, the brothers lost over $150 million, but they refuse to give up, saying that if the next relaunch does not work, they will "do it again."

Perhaps this time, they will find the key, just like when they managed to get News Corp to work with them. The two wrote a fake press release about them acquiring Myspace from News Corp together with Justin Timberlake. 'You better not be f**king lying about Justin Timberlake,' the News Corp employee in charge of making that decision said. Well, that's awkward because they did lie about that.

Thankfully, they got Timberlake on the board, and the deal was done. Maybe there is another ace in the Vanderhooks' sleeves this time, too.
