Diablo 5 Revealed at BlizzCon 2026: Blizzard’s ARPG Jumps 100 Years Into a Post-Apocalyptic Future With a 2029 Release Date

Diablo 5, a brand-new mainline entry in Blizzard’s long-running action RPG series, was announced today at BlizzCon 2026.

A short teaser during today's BlizzCon’s opening ceremony shows the return of the Lord of Terror, one century after the events of Diablo 4.

The Diablo development team also revealed that Diablo 5 will release in Spring 2029, a full 6 years after the release of Diablo 4, and more than three decades after the series first launched.

Diablo 5’s story is confirmed to take place a full century after the events of Diablo 4, and will be the first game in the series that is set entirely post-apocalypse.

BlizzCon 2026 also saw more Diablo news, including The Amazon - a new class pack coming to Diablo 4 in 2027, word that the Diablo 4 Collection coming to Nintendo Switch 2, and Season 15, a broad playable look-back at the history of the Diablo franchise, which is available now.
