Dragon Ball Officially Unveils New Full Power Form For Controversial Character

Dragon Ball has its fair share of beloved and iconic characters from across the franchise, but not all of them have garnered praise from the fanbase over the years. While characters like Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Future Trunks have become enduring fan favorites, others have earned considerably less affection.

Some characters win audiences over due to their quirky or memorable personalities, their exciting battle sequences and new forms, or simply because they're just badass. However, other characters have become universally loathed thanks to irritating character writing, questionable story choices, or from taking up valuable screen time that fans feel should be dedicated elsewhere (looking at you Ribrianne).

Of course, opinions within a fandom as large as Dragon Ball's are never truly unanimous. Even notoriously unpopular characters will be defended, while on the flip side, the franchise's greatest icons aren't immune to criticism. That said, there's one incredibly controversial character that's making an official return with a new Full Power form, and it's certain to divide fans right down the middle (via YouTube).

A Divisive Dragon Ball Character Returns

While he may be one of Dragon Ball Super’s most formidable fighters, Jiren's overwhelming power has done little to shield him from becoming one of the franchise’s most divisive characters. While fans can't decide whether to love him or hate him, he's officially back in Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra Season 6 with a brand-new Full Power form.

Alongside Goku Black and Beerus, Jiren is the third playable hero and new Super-era addition released for Season 6, and offers players an option that takes decreased damage from frontal attacks and grows stronger the longer he stays in battle.

Jiren Joins Gekishin Squadra August 12

Jiren has been a somewhat divisive character over the years among the fanbase, and while many love his overwhelming power and epic battle sequences during the Tournament of Power, others have criticized him for lacking the personality and depth of Dragon Ball’s most iconic antagonists.

His relatively straightforward backstory has drawn mixed reactions over the years, but Jiren remains an unmistakably important part of Dragon Ball Super and the larger franchise, with his imposing presence and battles against Goku helping define Super's climactic final arc.

No matter your feelings on Jiren, you'll officially be able to add him to your squad on August 12 in Gekishin Squadra. If you haven't had a chance to play, it's a free-to-play, team-based multiplayer battle game that pits two teams of four Dragon Ball characters against each other in objective-driven combat, and is available on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, iOS, and Android.

Season 6 is currently ongoing with regular updates such as Jiren's new form, and now is as good a time as any to check out the game if you're a longtime Dragon Ball fan.
