Stardew Valley's adorable Totoro companion mod is a must-have for this autumn

Stardew Valley players can now pick up an adorable Totoro companion mod who will follow them around their farms.

There's no denying that there's a huge overlap between fans of Stardew Valley and Studio Ghibli.

Both franchises feature cosy vibes and cute graphics which make them prime candidates for unofficial crossovers.

Now, players can have their own cute Totoro pet who serves as a cuddly companion while out on those long farming days.

Stardew Valley mod introduces Totoro to the world of Pelican Town

Created by Stardew modder Pochimods, the brand new Totoro Companion add-on adds your very own Totoro creature to your farm, complete with unique interactions.

Adopt the Totoro from Marnie, and the creature will follow you around Pelican Town, as well as wander your own farm in his own time.

The creature also sleeps in his own bed, and will show a heart when given a hug.

Adopting the Totoro costs you 5,000g, while the bed costs an extra 1,000g. But once you've invested the money, you'll be able to start having your own Ghibli-style adventures around your farm and Pelican Town.

You can download the mod now for Stardew Valley from Nexus Mods. It comes with support for three languages: English, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese.

The Totoro Companion mod pairs well with other Studio Ghibli-inspired mods created for Stardew Valley over the years, such as Ghibli Critters or Catchable Ghibli Creatures which have been hosted on Nexus Mods for the past few years.

It's the right time of year to check this mod, with the cosy autumn vibes starting to kick in this month, and is perfect for any Ghibli fan starting a brand new playthrough as the evenings get darker.

The Totoro character was created in 1988 for Hayao Miyazaki's animated film My Neighbor Totoro. The film depicted the adventures of two children who move to the countryside, whose lives are changed after meeting Totoro, a large magical creature who lives inside a large nearby tree.

My Neighbor Totoro proved to be popular with children in Japan, as well as overseas, and the character has since become the official mascot for Studio Ghibli. It has received numerous awards, and has even inspired by a play in the UK under the slightly altered title My Neighbour Totoro.
