Pokémon's Official New 30th Anniversary Release Covers All Nine Generations

Despite Pokémon's 30th anniversary celebrations winding down a tad, there are still several new releases planned to come out over the next few months, and many more that have launched very recently. It has certainly been an exciting year for fans, one full of both big and small reveals, merch drops, and assorted updates, and has felt, at least for the most part, like a respectful and heartfelt celebration of the games and anime thanks to its collaborations, community-building announcements, and fascinating installments across the globe.

Fortunately, fans can keep the celebrations going a little longer, as The Pokémon Company has a few more tricks up its sleeve. Among the many new Pokémon 30th anniversary releases is a brand-new project that brings together every single generation and their respective pool of Pokémon for a monolithic product fans will absolutely want to check out. It will serve as the ultimate resource for dedicated fans and a perfect way to get familiar with the enormous and ever-expanding world of Pokémon for newcomers.

Pokémon Just Brought Back The National 'Dex

Rather surprisingly, several Pokémon 30th anniversary releases launched on August 7. Among these gems was a brand-new project that, as aforementioned, is designed to bring together every Pokémon from the past three decades into one concise resource that fans can easily turn to when they want to know more about their favorite 'mon, or one they're set to battle against. It has been a long while since such a resource was compiled and made publically available, so it is a rather big deal for hardcore fans and newcomers alike.

The project is a book titled Pokémon Official National Pokédex 1996-2026, which is being published by Overlap Co., Ltd. alongside The Pokémon Company. It compiles every single Pokémon that has appeared across the past 30 years (all 1025 of them) into one handy hardback book that spans 448 pages. While there aren't detailed entries about all 1025 Pokémon, each entry contains all of the necessary information one would expect, including type, moves, classification, height, weight, and more.

There are also explanations about certain in-game terms, such as what a Mega Evolution and Terrastar is, to help those completely new to the franchise, or those who've taken an extended break from it. It is a comprehensive guide to all currently available Pokémon that feels absolutely necessary, especially when each new video game entry and anime series tends to reintroduce past generation's Pokémon or utilize previous mechanics such as the aforementioned Mega Evolution.

1025 Pokémon May Just Be The Beginning

In addition to the Pokémon Official National Pokédex 1996-2026 book, it was also announced that three art books would be released that feature everything from promotional art to detailed illustrations, CG renders, and more. Each volume will cover a different period of Pokémon's history, with the first volume focusing on everything from Pokémon Red and Green up to Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, the second covering Pokémon Black and White to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, and the final volume focusing on Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! to Pokémon Legends: ZA M-Dimensional Rush.

The art books will only be available separately, and will cost 5500 yen, or roughly $34.60. They are scheduled to be released on December 18th, towards the very end of the 30th anniversary celebrations. In conjunction with the recent official Winds and Waves gameplay reveal, these may just be some of the best projects to come out of the Pokémon 30th anniversary event. Each of the aforementioned books will likely serve as invaluable resources for fans, especially those who love collecting physical media and want an easily accessible and detailed breakdown of every Pokémon ever created.
