It's time to get excited, EA FC fans, as EA Sports has just confirmed the cover athlete for FC 27.
Following on from Jude Bellingham and Jamal Musiala as cover stars for FC 26, there were only a few big names capable of mustering the same level of awe.
And if you've been following the World Cup, then it's likely no surprise to learn that one of its best performers has made the grade this year.
Fresh from a Golden Boot-winning performance that has made him the World Cup's all-time leading goalscorer, Real Madrid and France talisman Kylian Mbappé will be the cover star for FC 27.
A post to the official EA FC social media channels reads, "Back on the cover. Ready to go again. [Kylian Mbappé] leads the FC 27 cover."
The accompanying image, a shot of the Ultimate Edition cover, showcases Mbappé in the 2026/27 Real Madrid home shirt.
FC 27 marks the fourth time Mbappé has graced the cover of an EA FC title, following three consecutive years between FIFA 21 and 23.
It also marks his first appearance since signing for Real Madrid, regaining the honour from teammate and two-time cover star Jude Bellingham.
Alongside the announcement of Mbappé as the cover athlete, EA Sports also confirmed that our first look at this year's game is arriving later this week.
A scheduled stream has appeared on the official EA Sports FC YouTube channel, with the official reveal trailer set to go live on Thursday, 23 July at 5pm BST.
Expectations are high for this year's game, with many fans viewing FC 26 as a rather lacklustre entry in the series.
With Mbappé making his return to the cover, EA will no doubt be hoping that what they've been cooking up behind the scenes all year will hit the back of the net too.
