Apple TV made a major announcement about The Morning Show season 6.
Deadline reports that The Morning Show season 5, which began filming in the spring and will be released sometime in 2027, will be the show's farewell run, confirming that the dramedy will not be getting a sixth season.
Following the announcement, Aniston released a statement thanking Apple for supporting the vision that the producers and writers had when they started working on The Morning Show. "We feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to tell stories that reflect what's happening in the world around us with a twist of dark humor," she said. The actress, who also serves as an executive producer, went on to praise the cast, writers, producers and crew, and admitted that they've all become like a family over these past seven years.
Since the team knew ahead of time that season 5 would be the end of The Morning Show, they were able to "craft the conclusion with intentionality, and honor these characters the way they deserve," Aniston revealed.
Her co-star and fellow executive producer Witherspoon also spoke out about The Morning Show ending, saying that it was more than just a TV series. "It was a show about why the newsroom matters. About freedom of the press, and the journalists who protect the fourth estate, often at great cost," she explained, adding that being able to tell these kinds of stories has been the "creative privilege of my career."
Aside from series regulars Aniston, Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Karen Pittman, Nestor Carbonell, Jon Hamm and Nicole Beharie, the final season will also see the arrival of new cast members Jesse Williams, Jeff Daniels, Sean Hayes, Lizzy Caplan and Reneé Rapp.
