DuckDuckGo "Normal F**king Sunglasses" Sold Out In Under a Week
Not going to lie, they look cool.
DuckDuckGo collaborated with the sunglasses brand Knockaround to release a pair of "Normal F**king Sunglasses", making fun of the release of AI-powered smart glasses.
"Knockaround and DuckDuckGo are introducing the world's most innovative anti-surveillance sunglasses. AKA Normal F***ing Sunglasses. No camera, no microphone, no AI, no battery, no electronics of any kind."
Now the description on the Knockaround page says that the sunglasses, designed to just block the sun, sold out in under a week, adding that privacy suits everyone and that more pairs are coming.
DuckDuckGo is an internet search engine that puts privacy first; it doesn't track your searches, build a profile of you, or personalize results based on your search history. So, it's understandable why they would take a stand against the trend of AI-powered glasses.
In 2024, Meta confirmed that the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses were using the images and videos people were sharing with Meta AI to train the system. In June of 2026, Meta revealed its own collection of Meta Glasses.
All of this raised some controversy among people on the internet, especially because some were thinking that the glasses could be harmful in some situations.
With many tech companies trying to put cameras on our faces all the time, a pair of sunglasses that do absolutely nothing might be what we need right now.
