Beast of Reincarnation director apologises for not making an "enjoyable experience"

Game Freak’s latest title, Beast of Reincarnation, has seen a very mixed reception since its release at the beginning of the month, and it appears players can’t quite make up their mind about it.
On Metacritic, the game received a score of 73/100, a decent enough result. However, it’s on Steam where the game is receiving a more brutal reaction, with a Steam-labelled "mixed" response and a total of three stars at the time of writing.
This has prompted the game’s director, Kota Furushima, to publicly apologise for the game not meeting expectations.
In an interview with 4Gamer (translated by Automaton), Furushima stated: "I honestly feel that there are still areas in the game that require our sincere attention. I’m truly sorry that parts of the game haven’t provided a sufficiently enjoyable experience."
Furushima has also said that the game "needs polishing" and intends to improve on its flaws. This will include key improvements to story pacing and a largely requested cutscene skip function.
On 10 August the game did receive a patch in response to player feedback, which fixed camera-related issues and tweaked the game’s combat, however it is clear that further adjustments still need to be made.

"I think the unique post-apocalyptic vibe of the world is resonating with many players."
The next patch confirmed by developers currently has no release date, but considering this level of response, players can surely expect improvements soon.
