Red Dead Redemption Meets Cyberpunk 2077 In New FPS You Can Play Free Now
There are a ton of amazing new titles being showcased during Steam's Cyberpunk Fest, which is currently running through next Monday, August 10. The festival features hundreds of unique games from across every genre, with dozens of demos available that allow players to try them out for free, either before you buy them outright or as a means of getting you to wishlist them before their official launch later on.
However, with so many different games on offer during the event, it's easy for some hidden gems to slip through the cracks. One title in particular is well worth your attention, especially if you're a Cyberpunk fan looking to scratch that space Western itch and dive into a Red Dead Redemption-style FPS.
It's currently available to try out as a free demo right now on Steam, and will almost certainly have you wanting more by the time you finish up the free playtest trial.
A Cyberpunk Western You Can Try Free Now
Cyber Rail is a newly released Cyberpunk-style Western that gives off major Ghostrunner gameplay vibes. It's featured as part of Steam's Cyberpunk Fest, which runs until 10AM EST on August 10 and includes a trove of hidden gems if you haven't had a chance to peruse the various featured games.
While Cyber Rail hasn't fully launched, developer Torn Ace Studios pushed the Steam page live with a free playtest demo on August 3 to give players a sense of what's on offer and also to test the game's backend performance as well. Torn Ace Studios is a small indie team of just four developers and has described Cyber Rail as a "roguelike parkour FPS with robot cowboys," and that's pretty spot on given the gameplay footage and demo experience available at the moment.
Currently, there's no specific release date available outside of Steam's "Coming Soon" label, but players can wishlist the game now, follow Torn Ace Studios on their socials (via Linktree), and keep an eye out for any release date updates or announcements in the coming months.
Cyber Rail Looks Incredible
Cyber Rail is the perfect game for fans of futuristic western games or fast-paced first-person parkour shooters such as Ghostrunner or Katana Zero. According to the game description, players can expect "a fine-tuned movement system [that] enables precise and agile maneuvers ... with hordes of enemies targeting you from all directions and perilous falls around every corner."
