Every Main Star Wars Movie Hero, Ranked By Power Level

The Star Wars franchise is full of powerful heroes. Ever since the first film debuted in 1977, there have been countless protagonists, from Jedi to redeemed smugglers, who have shown their abilities in a variety of unique ways. Each Star Wars movie highlights a set of heroes, all of whom get their chance to show off their power.

This is true of The Mandalorian and Grogu, which released in theaters in May and is out on digital this week. The title characters are on a dangerous new adventure in the new film, which includes encounters with the Hutt family and various threatening creatures.

The power of both Din Djarin and Grogu is highlighted in the film as they face off against these enemies. Grogu’s growing Force powers are seen, such as his increased ability to use these tools in combat. Din Djarin, meanwhile, goes up against a dragon snake and various other creatures, showing his power in combat against them.

In a galaxy full of accomplished Jedi, Din Djarin and Grogu are far from the most powerful heroes in the franchise, however. Other characters, like Anakin and Luke Skywalker, represent the very best of what the galaxy has to offer in this regard.

Padmé Amidala

Padmé Amidala is best known for being the matriarch of the Skywalker family. It’s Padmé who gives birth to both Luke and Leia, thus changing the course of the galaxy forever. Padmé may not have the Force like her children, or her husband, Anakin, but she still holds plenty of power. Padmé is a masterful leader, representing the planet of Naboo with strength and grace throughout the prequel trilogy.

Padmé also shows her power in combat. Even though the majority of her power lies in her political abilities, Padmé demonstrates her fighting skills in the final battle of Attack of the Clones, where she uses a blaster to fight back against the droid army.

Jyn Erso

Jyn Erso is another main Star Wars hero that lacks the Force. Yet, she is still powerful in many other ways. Jyn spent the latter part of her childhood alone, which made her a hardened and powerful survivor. This can be seen in Jyn’s combat, as she fights against Imperial stormtroopers in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Poe Dameron

Poe Dameron is one of the core heroes of the sequel trilogy. It’s he who introduces the first film in the sequels, The Force Awakens, in an extended opening where he faces off against Kylo Ren. Poe is a Resistance solider and pilot, leading squadrons of X-wings into space battles in all three films in the trilogy.

Poe’s power comes from the combination of his skills as a pilot and in combat. As a boots on the ground soldier, Poe is formidable with a blaster and is able to hold his own against First Order stormtroopers. As a pilot, Poe also excels, as he’s one of the best that the Resistance have. He may not be the most powerful fighter that the group has (that title would belong to Rey), but Poe Dameron remains a threat nonetheless.

Din Djarin

Din Djarin is the latest Star Wars movie hero after the debut of The Mandalorian and Grogu. He shares many similarities with Poe Dameron — the two both have experience working in the crime corner of the galaxy, and they ultimately still went to serve the New Republic/Resistance. Din Djarin’s power comes from his years of experience as a bounty hunter, and his experience (and power) shows in the new film.

Han Solo

Han Solo is one of the most famous characters in all of Star Wars. Harrison Ford’s iconic smuggler turned Rebel hero appeared in all three films in the original trilogy before returning in 2015s The Force Awakens (and then again in a cameo role in 2019s The Rise of Skywalker).

Han’s power is similar to Din Djarin’s in that it largely stems from his years of experience in the criminal underworld of the galaxy. Han spent over a decade of his life working with Jabba the Hutt, Boba Fett, and other untrustworthy characters. This helped give Han the skills he needed to navigate the Galactic Civil War, as he became one of the key members of the Rebellion.

Grogu

Grogu is different from every other hero on this list for a variety of reasons, none more so than the fact that he’s a child. As a baby, Grogu lacks the ability to talk, and he retains a childlike innocence that is seen throughout The Mandalorian show and The Mandalorian and Grogu movie. Grogu’s power is on full display in the film, as he uses the Force in combat and to heal his adoptive father.

Finn

Finn is another powerful Star Wars hero, and one that falls in the category of those that do have the Force. However, unlike Rey or Luke, Finn doesn’t have training in the Force, and his power in this area is relatively undefined. However, he’s still strong enough to sense when things are wrong with Rey (Finn knew when Rey died briefly in The Rise of Skywalker, for example). Finn also shows excellent lightsaber skills in The Force Awakens, even as a beginner.

Leia Organa

Leia Organa is much like Finn in that she too has the Force, but without much training. However, unlike Finn, Leia did go through some Force training with Luke after the events of Return of the Jedi. She eventually gave up the training after sensing the death of her son at the end of her Jedi path, but Leia’s power is still apparent. She holds potential in the Force, just like her father, while also possessing the political finesse of her mother.

Anakin Skywalker

As the Chosen One, Anakin is easily one of the most powerful characters in the franchise. He’s the Jedi that is created by the Force itself, designed to defeat the Sith once and for all. Anakin holds unlimited potential as a Force user, and is only held back by his own difficulties. Anakin is angry and often jealous, which disrupts his power and, more broadly, his Jedi path. However, his defeats at the hands of other characters go to show that despite his status as the Chosen One, his abilities aren't unrivaled.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of the strongest and most powerful characters on this list. He was trained in the golden era of the Jedi, meaning that he grew up with the likes of Yoda and Qui-Gon Jinn as mentors. Obi-Wan’s power is exemplified by his ability to go pound for pound with Anakin in the final battle of Revenge of the Sith.

Anakin is the Chosen One, yet Obi-Wan still holds his own against him. Obi-Wan did this not just once, but twice, as he defeated Darth Vader in combat in the Disney+ series.
