Mattel Has Released A Lego-Like Hot Wheels Halo Warthog You Build Yourself
It’s a big week for Halo with Campaign Evolved, the first new Halo game since Infinite, launching into early access, with its full release coming next week. To celebrate the arrival of Combat Evolved’s remake, Hot Wheels has revealed its Warthog replica that you can build yourself.

Mattel has teamed up with Xbox and Halo Studios to create the buildable Warthog in celebration of the series’ 25th anniversary. There have been several iconic vehicles you need to pilot with Master Chief over those two and a half decades, but none is more synonymous with Halo than the Warthog.
The vehicle first appeared in the original Halo, which means it’s back in Campaign Evolved and has never looked better. Although the set doesn’t appear to be Mega-branded, it is most certainly Mega-adjacent. Mega is Mattel’s Lego rival. The set is made up of 935 pieces and, once complete, leaves you with a 1:22 scale replica of the Warthog.
The set comes with two sets of wheels, a swappable cannon, and decals so that you can customize the Warthog to your liking. The best part, however, is that you’ll technically be getting two Warthogs in the same set. That’s because the bigger Warthog you build yourself also comes with a smaller die-cast metal Hot Wheels replica.
You Get An Even Smaller Warthog With Your Small Warthog
The best news of all is the Hot Wheels Warthog hasn’t just been revealed - it’s been released. You can buy it right now directly from Mattel Creations for $76, or get it for slightly less if you buy it on Amazon ($75.59) or at Target ($74.99). The set is also compatible with Mattel’s other Mega sets, of which there are quite a few Xbox-themed ones since Mattel has held the toy brick license to Xbox properties for years.
That means this new set can technically be paired up with Mega’s other Halo sets, of which there have been quite a few. There has even been a Mega Warthog before; it’s just been a while and it wasn’t on the same scale as this new set. It also wasn’t affiliated with Hot Wheels and didn’t come with a smaller Hot Wheels replica.
Xbox’s toy brick relationship with Mattel has resulted in several Halo and Fallout sets, and even a buildable Xbox 360 replica. It looked like the license may have expired earlier this year and that, similar to Pokemon when it made the leap from Mega to Lego, Xbox properties might start getting Lego sets for the first time. That was after a couple of cars from Forza Horizon 6 got their own Lego sets. This new Warthog suggests that, despite being published by Xbox, Forza has a separate Lego license.
