Vin Diesel looking concerned as Dom Toretto in Fast X

Fast Forever is going into production soon.

Vin Diesel has confirmed the filming start window for the final movie in the Fast & Furious franchise. The final installment of the action-packed, vehicle-focused movie series is currently in the works, set to conclude the story beats set up at the end of Fast X. Director Louis Leterrier is set to return, while the screenplay was written by Michael Lesslie. The movie acts as the last film in the series, set to end the story of Dom Toretto and his ever-growing family as they face one final challenge on the road. The movie is set for release on March 17, 2028.

Speaking with Variety during the official 25th anniversary screening for The Fast and the Furious, Diesel confirmed Fast Forever will begin filming in December of this year. The actor stated that, so long as events continue moving as planned, the film will start shooting before the year is over. He also acknowledged the long wait between movies, revealing the script made him cry. He praises everyone involved in getting the movie to where it is, expressing emotion and excitement for where the story concludes.

Check out what the actor had to say below:

We start shooting in December, if I can make good on the request from the studio. I’m in a good place, though. I had to go through four sets of writers, four years of development, to get to something that I felt would be worthy of a finale. And when I read the script a couple of weeks ago, [I cried].

I’m going to tell you something personal. It was after four different writers, four years of development, and after I read the script, halfway through, one tear. By the end of the script that we crafted and worked so hard to make right for you after four years, I was crying. I couldn’t hold it back, and I had to tell everyone. And my sister said, ‘No more crying, bro.’ So I just want to say that sometimes, even the toughest guys in the world need to cry.

More to come...
